The Royal Burgh of Inverbervie, often known as just 'Bervie', is a small coastal town at the mouth of the River Bervie with an attractive pebble beach. It is around 25 miles south of Aberdeen, 10 miles south of Stonehaven and 13 miles north of Montrose. The nearest mainline railway stations are at Stonehaven and Laurencekirk, both on the main Edinburgh to Aberdeen line. Aberdeen international airport and Dundee airport, with flights to London, are both about an hour's drive away.

The town's population is around 2,000, and its local amenities include shops, a leisure centre, parks, hall and a primary school, Bervie Primary. Pupils can go on to high school at Mackie Academy in Stonehaven.
