The coastal village of Johnshaven is in Aberdeenshire, around seven miles north of Montrose and 14 miles south of Stonehaven, and is off the A92 Dundee to Aberdeen coastal road. This fishing village has a strong maritime history and continues to support a shellfish industry. It also hosts an annual fish festival every August.

Johnshaven is around an hour by car from Aberdeen international airport and the nearest railway station is at Laurencekirk, which is on the main Aberdeen to Edinburgh line, with regular services.
