Pittenweem is a small fishing village in the pretty East Neuk of Fife with a population of around 1,600. It is one and a half miles west of Anstruther and 11 miles from St Andrews, with regular bus services. It is around an hour by car from Edinburgh airport and the nearest mainline train station is at Leuchars, 30 minutes away by car.
The lower part of the village includes the harbour and older housing, and the upper part the main shopping area, more recent housing and Pittenweem Primary School. Pupils can go on to secondary school at Waid Academy in nearby Anstruther or take up other secondary school options in St Andrews or Dundee.
The village is known for its annual Arts Festival, which takes place in galleries, studios, homes and other venues across the village.
